CLINIQUE face-to-face: Things that you would ask a Make-Up consultant!!

25 Nov

Have you ever imagine, if you are going to learn from a professional make up artist, what are the questions that you would want to ask?

CLINIQUE was kind enough to offer me a make up tutorial with their senior make up consultant. Hoo!!~  I was so excited to learn from the expert and so I quickly wrote down what I want to ask during the tutorial (I know, I am so kiasu right…Hehe…). I have got a long list of questions, but here’s the only question I asked:

How to create natural, flawless make up?

Beautiful skin is vital. For your daily skin regimen, you must wait until the product was fully absorbed before applying another.

Foundation: The best combination to create natural flawless look = Liquid foundation + Loose Powder

(Liquid foundation + compact powder = dull + powdery) <—- I think that’s me (“o)

While applying loose powder, focus on your T zone and brush on excess powder in circular motion on your cheeks.

Brow: Your brows are more important than you think! Use your brow brush and dab on brown powder and apply at the arch of your brow. Then use your brush to draw it to the end and to the front. To create a more natural look, here’s the tip David taught me: used and cleaned mascara tip!! (Wonder how??) Brush it from start to end. And it creates such a natural finish! (You should really really try it!)

And this is the highlight of the tutorial: how to enhance your feature?

Use a light concealer and paint it below the brow. It enhances your eyes and blend in superbly with your facial features to give you a stunning look!! (Oh, I am so happy to learn about this!)

Blusher: Choose a shimmer blusher. Blusher without shimmer will make your face look dull. Use a blusher brush, brush the apple of your cheek upward, then brush downward with all the excess powder. Finish it up with circular motion around the cheeks, then brush little on your upper nose, little on your forehead and little on your chin. (I never knew it could be done this way!!) And my face glows!!

Apply another layer of loose powder and we are done!

The 35min tutorial ended up to be a fruitful 2-hour make up session. While applying lip gloss for me, David said to me: Eryn, make-up is an art. There’s no right or wrong way to do it. So, have fun to create look that you like and liked by others :)

How classic!!

My Little Farm

23 Nov

Just because you don’t have a huge garden space or live in a city, it doesn’t mean you cannot grow healthy produce for your use. The initial idea started from the nursery owner that was kind enough to explain to us why the 4 pots of flowers he sold us two months ago were dying. He taught us how to prune it and give it more organic fertilizer, limit water and more sun rays. And then he went on talking about plants and flowers. That is the good thing about surrounding yourself with passionate people :)

We ended up leaving the nursery with lots of gadgets and renew passion of growing vegetable in our own garden. I use organic potting soil and organic fertilizer mix because studies have shown that there are many benefits to growing organically, including better taste and a higher percentage of antioxidents. We spent the entire evening mixing soil and planting our little garden.

Plant your own garden and decorate your own soul, instead of waiting for someone to bring you flowers.~Veronica A. Shoffstall

We now have lemongrass, chili, ginger, curry leaves, pandan and Roselle!! I shared this with my mother during dinner and she doubted that very much “You don’t even drink sufficient water everyday, I am really worried about your garden”

(It’s ok, it’s the raining season now :D )

I look at my little garden and hopefully by spring, my gardening effort will be blooming :)

My Dream Wedding

21 Nov

Wedding is every girls dream to become woman. And I had mine to my love Kelvin of 8 years in such an unforgettable way.

This day was the best day of my life. A wedding with 1000 guests full of friends and family was a nice way to share our love for each other and to celebrate love. We came a long way and I’m so happy and grateful that we can share our lives together.

I remembered I was doing my make up and Kelvin came into the room and asked if I wanna practice our dance one last time.

Our wedding had become the talk of the town as there are 1000 names on our guest list. We needed a team of 15 people to usher our honorable guests. Thank you all so much!

Just 1 hour before the cocktails started, Kelvin come out with a splendid idea for my grand entrance. He drove me in our vintage bridal car.

I love it when there were so many loved ones that came and shared our joy, especially those who traveled a long way. I felt so loved and touched.

Before the show wedding began! I thought I would be super nervous, but quite the opposite, I felt really happy and excited!

That was me 20 years ago. (When I grow up, I want to be a Playboy girl…)

The ceiling was full of stars that night, when I walked slowly with my love.

I was so eager to show off my 2 meter train…

Let’s get the party started!

Our first dance~

Kelvin was singing the song with music from the live band while we did our first dance. It was a love song from Jackie Cheung in cantonese “每天爱你多一些” (love you a lil more each day). To be honest, both of us were not very sure about this , but it turned out to be great! I am so proud of you, honey~

This was the only time we ever finished the entire dance looking “flawless” (of course we made mistakes and forgot some steps, but none of the guests noticed it!).

We were taking pictures and telling jokes while waiting for announcement for us to enter the ballroom.

This was a bit scary. All the glasses fall and broken into pieces in one of my pre-wedding nightmares… (others include tripped and fell in my wedding dress, a sudden blackout, my make-up melted, the cake caught on fire etc…)

That night, I find my dad so amusing…

It was like a dream to me. After years and years of anticipation and months and months of planning, finally it came true. Our families and friends and the amazing team that came together to make this day the best day of our lives will never be forgotten, you are the best and we are so fortunate to have your love and creativity shine through our wedding.

As a new chapter of life unfolds, I see a different future lies ahead of me filled with excitements and the unknowns. And wherever we are or how far we go, I will always remember celebration of love on this special day. When I pledged my life to him as a loving and faithful wife, it was the beginning of forever.
