3 Days To Bon Voyage: What To Pack For A Round-The-Globe Trip?

22 Apr

Never in my life, I have the opportunity to go on an adventure round the globe for one whole month. The whole concept is simply mind-blasting to me. And 4 days from now, I am going on a voyage to sail across 5 continents.

I have got many scarfs to bring…

And believe me, the number ONE question appears on my mind is: How to travel stylishly while carrying the minimum stuffs? Also, I have to take into consideration on the weather differences, time differences and what to wear to all the happy meetings.

After contemplating for nearly a month, I finally know what I want to pack for this trip: Glamour In Comfort

- Flat bottom shoes and boots, and a pair of heels for dressy occasion

- Sunglasses, it’s too important to cover puffy/tired/red eyes

- Separates that can be thrown on and moves every which way yet still looks perfectly put together. I have carefully chosen 10 items which includes skirt, wool sweater, blouse, dress, denim jeans…

- Lots of accessories. I always love the magic a head piece, a belt or a strand of pearls can do!

- 1 large handbags, 1 tote bag and a clutch to cater to different occasions

- Short, trimmed and polished nails (will show you picture in one of my later post)

- I love to bring oversized scarf  instead of a bulky coat with me on board. When it gets chilly in the cabin, I will wrap it around my shoulder and it doesn’t take up too much space.

Oh that’s me looking funny. I wonder if anyone of you will do the same, I try on funny stuffs as I pack my luggage :)

I like to pack light. At least something I could haul effortlessly by myself. I refuse to be the amateur who holds up the plane because my luggage is too heavy/too large to fit in the overhead compartment (trust me, I used to be that girl who blocked everyone while struggling to stuff my hand carry luggage on top). Also, I hate watching my luggage turning 3 times on the conveyor belt and could not able to get it off due to its heavy weight.

To be honest, it’s beyond my wildest dream to go on a trip like this. Especially when the destinations include beautiful places like Bora BoraLas Vegas, Disneyland LA, New York, Rotterdam, London, Armsterdam etc… I give thanks to God for giving me this exciting adventure. For I know every good gifts come from God, I thank you Lord for giving me a lot more that my share.

This reminds me how handy a scarf can be while I was in India. I put on my sunglasses and wrap my head with a scarf like this on an auto-rickshaw to prevent all the sand and dust from getting on my face :)

You must be wondering, how does this happen? Well, looking at all the good works that Kelvin spent his time and efforts on, I would like to post my personal story for the rest of you to enjoy…

It all started on one fine day in 2010, Kelvin decided to marry me. He traded in everything he has and come back to my hometown to start his life with me as husband and wife. I would say at that time he lived a pretty good and stable life in Melbourne with good friends, prospering career, a nice townhouse and a handsome car…

It was a big decision for him. He came back and joined my father’s company and started managing export businesses. He always shows his cheerful part but I know deep inside, he was having a hard time adapting to a life so different here and has to work harder to start all over again. He shares his vision and shows persistency in expanding the business overseas. And in 2 years time, he brought our brand to places that we never thought we can reach. And this trip, is a trip to meet his customers while attempting to expand the market. And he wanted to bring me along…

I am so fortunate that my boss is kind enough to agree to it and keep telling everyone we are going on honeymoon :)

It captures the very moment that depicts our relationship :)

I think God reserves the best for everyone, and the best gift He showered upon me was Kelvin, who makes me feel so special and loves me with everything he has. Life becomes so beautiful as we grow together in the love of God. And I pray to God for his continual blessings to our union and also a safe and wonderful trip around the globe together.

OMG! I still can’t believe it! 3 more sleeps and Eryn will be on a bon voyage!!! XOXOXO

Everybody Gets Hurt

19 Apr

Never underestimate the pain of a person, because in all honesty, everyone hurts. Some just hide it better than others.

Everyone gets hurt in a way or another. It is part of the human nature I guess, we all long for appreciation, love and togetherness. Recently there was one incident that made me feel really upset. I remember I was in the shower and Kelvin asked me why do I look so upset, than I told him that today I asked a friend about how she thinks about my blog and I wanted to see if there is anything I can do better or even starting to discuss what kind of content she would want me to write about. A pretty good friend I would say. And she replied “I am not really interested in the topic you are blogging about. And also, I don’t really read. I am not good in reading…”

I would say I am a really cool person. But after hearing this, my heart sinks… And after hearing my story, Kelvin said to me, “She doesn’t know that it will hurt you when she said that. So don’t take it seriously okay?”

I don’t know… She is one of the closest friend I have and I value her opinions and she just acts like she doesn’t even care. So that night, I figure out that I am left with 2 options.

Option 1: Never talk to her again!  Confront her?

Tell her that I am upset because of what she said. Reveal my feelings and tell her that I ask her because I value her and wish she would do the same to me. Friends are supposed to encourage each other, not act like you don’t care. Even if you don’t read my blog, I am perfectly fine with that, just compliment on the designs that I have spent hours working on and tell me to keep writing. I would be deeply moved… And if she agree and apologize, we are still good friend; but if she defend herself and call me a whiner or a complain queen, I’ll NEVER EVER talk to her again!!

Option 2: Shape the truth.

This is one of the skills that I’ve learned in Landmark Forum. Everything that happens around us are not true, what makes them real is the meaning that we (ourselves) give. For example, it occurs to me as “she doesn’t like me at all”, but in fact, what she said is just “I am not really interested in the topic you are blogging about. And also, I don’t really read. I am not good in reading…”. And that could mean she likes my blog, just that she doesn’t read well and she is not into the topics that I chose. She might be interested in other topics which I don’t like? And she would still recommend my blog to those whom she thinks will enjoy reading :) And she might be already doing it, that’s why the readership has been increasing. And after all, she is still a lovely friend who cares for me, my feelings and my life!

I will never ever find out what she really means. And I have no way to know about it. To make myself feel better, I chose option 2. To me, the contentment and happiness is all that really matters.

Everyone gets hurt. So the next time when you feel hurt, think of this 2 options. And you will realize the key to your inner happiness lies right in your hand.

Cheers! XOXO
