Celebrate Motherhood with MICCIMO

7 May

The moment a child is born, the mother is also born.  She never existed before.  The woman existed, but the mother, never.  A mother is something absolutely new.  ~Rajneesh

This depicts how I feel now. After expecting a baby, I have come to know a new “me”. A “me” that has never existed before. I learn to deal with fear, embrace humility, endure hardship, sacrifice things that I love and pray at all time (not for myself but) for the well-being of my child. And I feel so blessed that this journey has been an enjoyable and truly blessed one.

Tonight when Kelvin took me out for a date night at The Fullerton Bay Hotel in Singapore, I decided to throw on my long sleeve jersey dress from MICCIMO.g6

To be honest with you, I’m very shy when it comes to tight fitting dresses during my pregnancy. I think the main reason is that most dresses I’ve seen look really tight, as if it’s trying to squeeze your baby so hard, and seem very uncomfortable. Maybe it’s a matter of finding the right design and good fabric, but for now, I have this dress made with 96% viscose to ease me into the world “belly-showing” designs. I greatly appreciate the ruched design at the sides and the silky appearance and feel. It’s demure~

To glam up the look, I paired it up with sparkling accessories and a black beret with netting for decorative purpose :)

I believe that (just like me) every new mother has this little “insecurity” about their changing appearance and blossoming baby bump. However, with minimal effort, pregnancy can certainly be comfortable and blissfully beautiful at the same time. And this is exactly what MICCIMO could provide!

When Everything Else Fails…

Stay Beautiful During Pregnancy with CLARINS

2 May

image

If you think that the French doesn’t understand Asian women, think again…Clarins 15a

The first encounter with Clarins was actually through their No.1 selling stretch mark control product. It was widely publicized by magazines and when my bestie Lindy told me to get one of it, I knew it must be really good. And here’s where I begin to know this brand more…  Clarins5

The anti-stretch mark products come in a pair (although Clarins does have a series of products which includes scrubs and shower oil… but I only use these fantastic duo). I started using it when I was 12 weeks pregnant. You know, stretch marks sounds really really horrifying to a lot of woman, especially to me!

So, here’s how you suppose to use the product. After you showered, rub the “Huile Tonic” (the bottle on the right) on the area of your tummy, lower abdomen and your breast. Then you rinse it off before you apply the stretch mark control cream (tube on the left) on the same areas.

Clarins3

Then you massage your body to let it absorb and voila!

I don’t know if you can see clearly that after the demonstration on my right hand, it becomes so moist, smooth and “elastic”~ I am now 34 weeks pregnant and so far there’s no marks on my tummy, so yeah, if you are looking for a good product for stretch mark control, I’ll definitely say: CLARINS :) Clarins4

And ever since then, I’ll visit the Clarins counter from time to time to know more about other products of theirs. One day after work, I remembered I was looking for a product that can provide me a rich moisturizing effect, I was introduced to Clarins Double Serum. image

To me, my pregnancy has made my skin become really “dry” to an extend that I can see fine wrinkles forming near my nose and nasolabial fold. My usual routine and skin regime before didn’t seem to work anymore!

Clarins8

This Double Serum (RM280) is my must-have for beautiful skin that I can’t live without now! It’s a combination of water-based and oil-based formulas that makes my face appears more “bouncy” and wrinkles reduced!

Asian women have a common fear, we don’t want our skin to turn yellowish (黄脸婆)! We want to be fair, fairer, and not just “white” but we desire the translucent fair skin!
Clarins6

And here’s the answer: Clarins White Plus Series!

Clarins7

Here, I’ll highlight a few of my favourite items from the series. First of all, Water Comfort One Step Cleanser! In one simple step, this soothing cleanser creates the sensation of water-fresh cleansing — without the water. (I deduce that I can use this when I am in my confinement so to reduce contacting too much water).
Clarin1

Staff at Clarins counter has good product knowledge and is very helpful in assisting customer to find the suitable products.
Clarins 11

My second favourite, Clarins Intensive Brightening Serum (RM295). The skin care for fairer, more even skin with ultimate translucency and healthy-looking luminescence! The antidote to 黄脸婆!! :D This serum, unlike the Double Serum mentioned above, instantly blends and dissolves into the skin. Leaving a refreshing clean sensation.

Clarins9

Thing you won’t forget before you leave the house when you are at my age: Sunscreen.

Clarins UV Plus (RM158).Clarins 10

This product comes in 3 shades, designed to suit different complexions: the natural tone (white), radiance tone (pink) and even tone (beige). I, of course have chosen the pink one! It can be used as a make up base to “revive” the skin with a subtle pink radiance.

Well, here’s my review on Clarins products for today. Despite its humble-looking packaging, Clarins does wonders to my skin :) They provides a wide selection of products to suit different needs, so next time when you are looking for something, drop by their counter and you may find what you need!

Thank you so much for reading and hope you find the review useful. May beauty grows on all of you, my beloved readers!

Clarins 14Cheers to beauty and beautiful life!

How Can Eyelash Extension Change Your Look?

18 Apr

image

One fine Sunday afternoon, I have made up my mind to try “eyelash extension” for the first time in my life!!

Well, if you ask me why, I would say because I wanna glam up my sleep-deprived eyes and also shorten time to make up every morning… With the a big baby belly now, I think I have the perfect excuse to do whatever I want :D

So, here’s a picture of myself without mascara…
Puz

Not too bad right? Hehe…

As this is my first time, I had so much questions on my mind! The beautician carefully explained the procedure and went through different styles with me and after a brief consultation, she placed me on a comfortable bed and getting started to do what she called a “3D Korean eyelash extension“<— sounds cool right?

First of all, my eye make up was removed and a tape was placed at the lower eye lid to prevent the lower eyelashes from being glued~

And then a combo of thick and thin lashes was individually glued on my real lashes. The glue made my eyes feel uncomfortable for a while and as soon as it’s dried up, the tingling sensation vanished.

So, here’s a glance of how it looks like!!

(My real lashes on the right look so pathetically short…)

The whole session lasted for about 45 minutes and when the beautician handed me a mirror to check on the results, I was like… Wow~

It reminds me of my flamboyant lashes I wore in Vegas! (So fake…) I reckon I should put on something less dramatic next time… :)
Puz1

What do you think? It certainly does make my eyes appear bigger though…

However, before considering getting yourself one (which I think every girl should at least try once), here’s the down side of it:

- You basically can’t wear glasses cos’ your eyelash extension tends to press on the glass and it looks so funny~

- You can’t rub your eyes, it irritates your eyes and you might accidentally pull a few off together with your real lashes (“o)

- You can’t wet your eyelash extension, yes, cannot wet them!

- You can’t let moisture-rich products to get into the fake lashes. Shampoo, conditioner, heavy creams or anything oil based will eventually loosen the bond.

Well, then you might ask, how to clean the face if can’t get it wet?? I struggle with this too! I remembered the first night I was attempting to used a cotton bud with some makeup removal oil to remove my eye makeup on the upper eye lid and it didn’t work! I then use a cotton with some water to clean it and the cotton strands caught in the lashes and at the end of the “makeup removal” session, my lashes looked like a complete mess and it irritated my eyes too!

Then the second day, I came up with a brilliant idea!

Makeup Removal Wet Tissue!!!

imageThen I thought, how come I never thought of it at the first place? I got this Biore makeup removal tissues from Guardian. It’s so convenient! I just pull a sheet out from the bag and wipe my upper eyelid and lower eyelid (if I apply lower eye liner that day) and it’s cleaned!

IMG_0442a

It may sound troublesome and high maintenance, but with this new lash extension on, I basically do not need any eye makeup on! It saves me a lot of time everyday drawing eye lines and putting on eye shadow.
IMG_0441aNow I wake up beautifully everyday~ (Okay, I am so vain…)

Well now you know what you will be getting into :)  Anyone of you thinking of getting eyelash extensions? Or you have already done that? Share with me about your experience!

Thank you so much for reading and have a beautiful beautiful day!
