Year end is always fun. For it’s filled with travel plans, parties, family dinners, friends gatherings and more… Now how do you pack it all and look fabulous without checking in too much luggages?
Pick the “Multi-functional” Pieces
Pick the basics that can go well with almost anything. For example, pack a black dress that can be dressed up or down. Pair it with a fancy coat and a pair of red heels for a nice dinner; swap the heels with a comfortable pair of black flats and a wool sweater for travel or hanging out with family.
Follow The Same Colour Range
Pack majority of your clothing in the same colour range, so it will be easy to mix and match them with one another. You can also add colours that are within the same palette. For example, pick mostly black and white items and add some accessories that brings out your personality.
Technology has created fabrics that are almost impossible to wrinkle. When you pack, choose those clothes that are wrinkle-resistant. Fold them up in your luggage and they will be ready to wear when you unpack.
Choose Statement Pieces
Go for sweaters and coats with special textures and create a statement. Pieces like this can be styled differently and it adds interest on their own. Like this you don’t have to pack additional layering pieces.
Divide Into Sections
Organize your things in small bags or pouches. It will make your luggage look tidy and easy to find what you want. Confine items would take up unnecessary free space, use shoe bags to organize shoes and bring extra larger bags for laundry.
For a short work-and-play trip, I paired my V neck black dress with a colourful oversized coat and a black clutch purse. Just by swapping the coat with a black blazer, I am all good for a formal meeting.
This coat is a love at first sight (I styled it differently HERE), it keeps me warm in the flight cabin. However, tying the belt in front makes my upper torso looks big, so I tied the belt at the back and made it into a bow 🙂
Red heels are basics. They go well with almost everything. I have got this pair from Charles&Keith, the design somehow makes the legs look longer.
I hope you enjoy this post as much as I enjoy making it. What is your tips and tricks to pack light? Share with me in the comment box below 🙂
