9 Travel Tips For Lazy Girls

2 Jul

I have a love-hate relationship with travelling. I have a soul that long for adventure and eager to explore the world, but a body that doesn’t adapt to travelling and accustom to new environment easily… @.@ And I am too lazy sometimes to pack and unpack and plan and do research… So…

Today I am going to share with you my travel tips after years of travelling the world.

1. Make a Checklist

I always pack my luggage last minute, like 1-2 hours before leaving to the airport. And the way I make sure I never forget to bring anything is that I made a checklist. I basically have 3 kind of checklists: Travel for business, Travel for leisure and Travel with kids. The list will consist of essentials such as passport, charger, medicine, glasses, toiletries, make up bag, wallet… etc. And when travelling for business, on top of the basics, the list will include business cards and laptops… So every time when I pack, I just re-use the checklist to make sure I pack everything I need for the trip. This way, I effectively reduce the packing time and never left out anything.

2. Buy Travel Insurance

So that you don’t get too upset if flight is canceled or luggage lost. If you are a frequent traveler, buy a yearly travel insurance so that you don’t have to buy insurance every time before you travel. It does save a lot of time (and money) too!

3. Pack Make Up Bags, Medicines, Contact Lenses, Coat and Extra Set of Garments in Your Hand Carry

Always be prepared that even if your check-in luggage went missing in transit, you still have those essentials that you need with you. Remember to pack in extra pair of undies too!

4. Stay Hydrated

I normally carry a small thermos with me when travelling. I will fill up the thermos with warm water before boarding and before I go out from the hotel to make sure I have sufficient water intake.

5. Keep A Hotel Card In Your Pocket

Upon check in at the hotel, I will request for a hotel card that has the name, address and contact number on it. I will keep it in my pocket just in case I got lost and need to show the taxi driver how to get back to the hotel.

6. Pack A First Aid Kit

My first aid kit (normally a small pouch in my hand carry) consists of bandages, eye drops, allergic medicine (Telfast or Zyrtec), Panadol, cold and flu medicine, nail clippers, activated charcoal pills (for traveler’s diarrhea) and some ginseng teabags. While abroad, it is not easy to get access to medication and clinics, therefore, having a first aid kit is not only convenient but can be a life saver too.

7. Bring A Scarf

I love to bring oversized scarf  instead of a bulky coat with me on board. When it gets chilly in the cabin, I will wrap it around my shoulder and it doesn’t take up too much space.

8. Pack Light

I like to pack light. At least something I could haul effortlessly by myself. I refuse to be the amateur who holds up the plane because my luggage is too heavy/too large to fit in the overhead compartment (trust me, I used to be that girl who blocked everyone while struggling to stuff my hand carry luggage on top). Also, I hate watching my luggage turning 3 times on the conveyor belt and could not able to get it off due to its heavy weight.

9. Pray

We all have unknown fears while we travel. Whether you are travelling long distance or short distance, on road, flight or sea, a prayer always remind us of God’s love, grace and mercy. And it can be very assuring even in times of despair and danger. Having God’s presence travelling with you will give you peace and so you are able to enjoy the trip.

Hope you find these tips useful for your travel plans 🙂 Thank you so much for reading.

Remember That Dream Of Sweet Macarons?

Lost in the wonderful sweetness of Paris…

Not so long ago, all these seems to be a dream. Remember Those Nights Full of Sweet Macarons? It finally came true… Here we are in Paris, tasting the legendary macarons at Ladurée. At first I thought it would be hard to find, but here it is, along the Avenue des Champs-Élysées. You will never miss it cos’ there’s such long queue in front it. There are 2 lines, one is for the takeaways and another is for dine-in customers. Make sure you are on the correct one to prevent to line up all over again!

Although the queue was long, but we didn’t waited long until we were being seated comfortably in this luxurious looking tea room. We were very impressed by all the deco and details. The first thing I can think of after seating down is, “I want one colour each!!!”

It was one fine afternoon. The weather was perfect, sunny but not hot. After the friendly waiter took our order and left the table, we looked at each other and smiled, feeling excited for this long waited experience.

Just you and me, in Paris…

For a moment, I wondered how different my life would have been without this man sitting in front of me. I think of all the special moments that we shared. He has given me the best of him. You’re going to come across people in your life who will say all the right words at all the right times. But in the end, it’s always their actions you should judge them by. It’s actions, not words, that matters.

Pardon me for the lack of words in this post, nowadays it becomes harder and harder to just sit down and write. I believe a picture tells a thousand words. Hope you enjoy my Ladurée Paris story. Next time when you are in Paris, besides shopping crazily, you can also spend some time here, sipping tea and taste the best known macaron in the world.

When we walked out from this beautiful place, Kelvin helped me with my coat and when he held my hand to prevent it turning cold, I was strucked by the simple truth that sometimes the most ordinary things could be made extraordinary, simply by doing them with the right people.

I love you now for what we’ve already shared, and I love you now in anticipation of all that’s to come. ~Nicholas Sparks

So much happened since I started this blog almost 2 years ago, I have learned so much since the beginning. It has always been a wonderful experience to share my love for writing, fashion, my life with Kelvin & Isabelle, and truly unforgettable memories in my life with all of you. When I started to receive personal messages from my readers telling me that they enjoy my writings, it makes me feels so grateful that all my passion and works are being appreciated.

Today marked a significant milestone for millionmars, I have got the highest view stats since I started this blog (OMG! OMG!). If there’s only one person I can share this joy with, it would be Kelvin, my love. He was reading something on his iPad while he saw me with a grin only face, “Why?“, he asked. “Darling, millionmars has its highest view stats ever, this August!“, I couldn’t help but smile even more. “Well done babe!~”, he was as happy as I was 🙂   As if all the work and effort we had spent into learning and crafting this blog had paid off. He gave me a big big hug. And that moment, all of a sudden, it just felt like all the stars aligned. It is one of those moments I am exploded with happiness and joy and my heart is filled with gratitude. I’m at a loss for words to truly describe that moment. It was a wonderful feeling.

We are forever grateful for your support and that we can share our journey with you. It makes me not afraid to run a little faster, dream a little bigger…

To Kelvin, thank you for taking all the beautiful pictures for me. Thank you for everything you have done to support and encourage me. Thank you for believing in all my dreams, no matter big or small. Thank you for constantly striving for perfection. I am so very happy and proud to chase all my dreams with you.

Thank you so much for reading and I hope you are living the life of your dreams today!
