Tropical Escape: Mother-Daughters Matching Outfits

9 Jul

A tropical escape.

Surrounded by old buildings, aromatic white coffee and family members, our stay in Ipoh was a warm and meaningful one. To embrace the hot and humid climate, I have prepared light and cotton outfits for this trip. We have been travelling with the kids to quite a lot of places, and I somewhat mastered the mix and match approach when it comes to mother-daughters matching outfits. For example, in today’s shoot, I chose a matching fabric material and colours when I pack. A red belt for my outfit to match with the kids’ red heart print on the dress!

We really treasured our time here to be with in the in-laws and the kids were having so much fun with their cousins. I feel so blessed that this would become a precious part of their childhood memory. Every time we visit Ipoh, I am amazed by all the wonderful nature landscape and charming old buildings.

To me, it is beautiful.

This old town filled with intriguing historical past. You can read my previous post about Ipoh HERE:

We had so much fun playing dress up and I am forever grateful that God has given me the privilege to be the mother to two beautiful daughters and a husband who is willing to document all these moments for us.

Thank you so much for reading and wishing you a great week ahead!

Recently, I am thinking whether I should write about the MUST-EAT in Ipoh, do let me know if you are interested to find out 🙂

Perseverance in Raising Gifts of Life [Casual Red Dresses]

20 Nov

It is not easy since day one.

As a mother.

Ultimately, our children are gifts to us and we have only a small window of opportunity to mould their characters.

What makes the job of parenting difficult is accepting the fact that we are imperfect beings trying to raise others imperfectly.

What we need to demonstrate to our children is that we are raising them with humility while acknowledging that we don’t do everything right all the time.

If you are not defensive but ask for their cooperation in doing what is right, even adolescents will appreciate it.

From the book Why Your Children Love You by Eliza Lian-Ding.

A lot of times, we are just trying our best to be good mothers. To be honest, most of the time we really have no idea what to do… When you see your children fighting with each other for a toy, what do you do? When your child refuse to take a nap or brush her teeth, what do you do? When your child screams at you at a crowded public place, what do you do? No matter how many parenting books you read or how many parenting seminars you have attended, you can never be well prepared when the child arrives. For every child is different and so as every parent.

Life just changed.

And so as you.

I truly cherish every moment I got to spend with these two little girls. They have (in a way) made me a better person in general. I  have learned to be (and not just act as) a mother and my life priorities are all different now since they came into our lives.

Now as the girls grow, we are having more fun while playing dress up. Their father buys them a lot of clothes in pairs, so I have decided to UP our dressing game a little bit by wearing the matching outfits as we go out 🙂

Their cute casual dresses are from Padini. You can shop it HERE.

My dress has been blogged about HERE when I was in Sydney earlier this year. Instead of its original braided belt, I pair it with a tassel belt this time.

Look at my cheeky girl…

Most of the time, they were having fun together. But getting them to pose properly for a picture is still a real struggle.

Like what was written in the book “What makes the job of parenting difficult is accepting the fact that we are imperfect beings trying to raise others imperfectly.” Many times we experience failures, we are clueless and we have our own weaknesses. To make parenting simpler, maybe what we need to do is to tell ourselves and our children that Mummy is not always right, mummy could be wrong too. When we started accept ourselves and acknowledge our own weaknesses, we will be more able to rectify and make the necessary change to be a better version of ourselves.

Hope you enjoy this article and pictures as much as we had fun drafting it 🙂
