[Fashion] Embroidered Dress X Pink Bamboo Shopper Bag

23 Jun

Hi Everyone!

Today I am showing you the outfit that I wore while travelling to Nagoya.

A dark green embroidered dress with layers of sweater and knitted coat, paired with an interesting pink bamboo shopper bag.

My first attempt on the combination of Dark Green + Light Pink 🙂 And it turns out to be quite nice I would say.

This trip, husband and I did not do any research and had seriously NO IDEA of where we want to go. Call it #travelforthesakeoftravel, really we just want to spend some time together while exploring the world. So when we landed in Nagoya, he asked me where I would want to go, I google Nagoya and decided I would love to see the Nagoya Castle first. Why? Well, basically I am very attracted to history and arts. I could spend a whole day in British Museum looking at the artifacts and stroll around Palace of Versailles from morning till it closed.

And when we arrived at the castle, I was really stunned by the architecture of the building and all the beautiful wall paintings in the interior of the castle chambers. It’s magnificent. I wish I could show you more but I really forgot to take pictures and trust me, pictures don’t do them justice, it’s delicate and beautiful, you’ve got to see them for yourself.

We climbed up to the top floor where it has a observation deck with windows where you can have a glance at the Nagoya city.

There were not much visitors while we were there, we explored the castle at our own pace.

The bag I carried has a very interesting combination of light pink leather and handles made with real bamboo connected to the bag via gold metallic hoops. To me it really symbolizes casual elegance, and the size is just nice to keep all I need while travelling: Travel wallet, phone, makeup pouch and a small bottle of water.

It was one of the beautiful moments we have while travelling in Japan. If you would like to read more about our Japan travel story, your can click the links below:

The Shocking Truth About Fashion Bloggers

30 May

Being a fashion blogger is not as glamorous as people think.

Being a fashion blogger for the past 6 years, I think I am seasoned enough to finally write about what it is all about to be a fashion blogger. Some of you might disagree or surprised to read what I am going to write, but, it is based on my true experience.

1. NOBODY IS WILLING TO SPONSOR US

Most of the items and clothing that we wear in the blog are actually not from sponsors. We bought it with our hard earned money and share it with you because we like it so much. Fashion dealers and fashion brands are way too cautious with their money and clothes, and they just will not sponsor you clothes unless you are willing to do it for free! (Sometimes they don’t even want to sponsor you even if you offer to do it for free.) Some will offer fashion bloggers sponsorship with discount vouchers! Asking for a fashion sponsorship and you are very likely to get NO REPLY because they don’t even bother to reply you at all! So if you are dreaming of becoming a fashion blogger so that you will get a lot of free clothes, just forget it!

2. LOOKING LIKE A COMPLETE IDIOT

Most of the time, when we are trying to take photographs for a new fashion blog entry, we have to dress all up and pose awkwardly in the middle of a busy street or do funny poses. There will be onlookers walking pass and giving us the funny looks. Sometimes, in order to capture the perfect moment, we have to pose for a long time until we heard the sound of the shutter or when the photographer is satisfied with the shoot. On average, 8 pictures will be chosen out of 80 pictures. Although it might seem effortless, but trust me, a fashion blogger needs to endure all the funny looks from the passerby and bear the title of “poser” and “wannabes” to produce the best pictures.

3. WE OFTEN HAVE AN INSTAGRAM HUSBAND/BOYFRIEND/GIRLFRIEND

No fashion blogger can be successful without quality pictures. And (unfortunately) most of us cannot afford a professional photographer. So we turn to our husbands or boyfriends or girlfriends for help to take our seemingly effortless #ootd (outfit of the day) pictures, because they are probably the only one who are willing to do it for FREE! And because not everyone is well-trained in taking good fashion pictures, we tends to train and demand our Instagram Husbands/Boyfriends/Girlfriends to take those “instagram-worthy” pictures. Which, very often ended up in frustration and arguments…

4. PASSION DRIVES US

Many of the fashion bloggers that I know (including myself) choose to become a fashion blogger because we are genuinely in love with fashion, arts and self expression. Although in reality, we do not have our breakfast in bed next to a latest copy of L’Officiel or Vogue magazine, we do love to style and experiment with different outfits and get in touch with the latest fashion trend. It is just something that turns us ON.

5. WE ARE THE WHOLE PACKAGE

When you own a fashion blog, you are the editor, stylist, makeup artist, PR manager, marketing director, customer service and content creator. Fashion bloggers are the among the most creative people I have known. They need to know everything about making a fashion blog successful, from the right photography composition to the superb social skills, to domains, designs and SEOs… the list just go on and on…

Even though being a fashion blogger is not as glam and chic as people might think and it could be quite tiring sometimes, but it has been a wonderful experience for me. I am so grateful that in this new era, technology has allowed ordinary woman like me to share my love for fashion and artistic expression to the world. I have heard a lot of comments by people about how easy it is to create a fashion blog and taking pictures of yourself, but in reality, a lot of works go behind the scene and we fashion bloggers have made it look so “easy” and effortless to you.

If you are a fashion blogger or plan to start a fashion blog, I want you to know that you are not alone. Fashion blogging is not an easy journey, but if you persist, it will be a beautiful experience for you. I do enjoy dressing up and taking fashion photographs. My blog serves as an creative outlet for me to escape my everyday life. And it make me extra happy when readers tell me that they actually enjoy what I have crafted and I really feel satisfied when my work is able to inspire people.

It is always my dream to blog about fashion.

And I am glad that I am doing it.

These pictures were taken at a train station in Kobe. The weather was so fine and I had so much fun posing for these pictures.

And in case you are wondering why all my luggages are black.

Because it matches with any outfits. Haha…

Thank you so much for reading and wishing you a great week ahead!

God bless you.

[Fashion] Earth Tone X White BROKEN Boots

21 May

Finally I have found some time to update my blog and show you some pictures that I took in Kobe. Weather was nice and we had such a great time exploring the little town. I was wearing my favourite pair of white boots, and to my great horror it was broken! So I guess this would be the last time you see it :0 Let me know if you can find out which part of it is broken? Hehe…

This is probably the first time I ever attempted a combination of earth tone. The dress surprisingly goes well with the white sweater and the creamy white knit jacket. I did not plan this outfit, I just somehow mix and match it when I have no idea what to wear 🙂 Some times, surprise awaits when you least expected it.

These pictures were taken in a tourist attraction called Kitano Ijikan in Kobe. We spent half a day strolling around this cute little district. It was beautiful.

I hope you enjoy these pictures as much as we enjoy taking it. I have been really really busy lately due to family commitment and increased work load. I wish I will find ways to update this blog as often as possible. Thank you so much for reading and wishing you a wonderful week ahead!

[Travel] Under The Cherry Blossom Tree

25 Apr

How magical it is…

To be dreaming under the cherry blossom tree with you.

No words can describe how magical it is to row a boat under the blooming cherry blossom trees. I would say this is the most wonderful experience in Tokyo for us. We queued for almost an hour to experience this goodness of spring, cherry blossom and a little quiet moment we got to spend together. If you are travelling in Tokyo during Spring time, you should really visit Chidoriga-Fuchi Park for this one-of-a-kind experience.

The boating experience was really fun and romantic. When Kelvin rowed our boat passed other boats, he would so kindly offer other couples to take pictures for them in the middle of the lake. So they passed us their hand phones to take pictures for them and every time after he snapped the picture, the wind blew our boat away. Kelvin then needed to row a little bit to return the phone. The boat was wobbly and it made the whole experience so fun and exciting. The cold wind blew on our faces, every little moves that we made would make the boat wobble even more. That was a really magical moment to me.

I have been really busy with work and family lately and it explains the lack of words in this post. I truly hope that you enjoy these pictures as much as we enjoy taking it. Please leave me some comments to tell me how do you like this post.

XOXO Eryn
