[Fashion] Every Girl Needs A Little Red Dress

13 Mar

Dressing up is my hobby.

Call me vain, but it gives me so much joy while dressing up myself (or others). I enjoy doing it ever since I was a little girl. Today’s post is dedicated to the extra effort I put in to dress up for a special occasion, our anniversary celebration.

I always have a little red dress ready in my closet for a special occasion. When Kelvin told me that he is bringing me to somewhere special for the date, I decided to throw on this chic and sexy red dress. It is a body-con skirt with a deep v cut at front part. Definitely a fashionable piece for date nights and anniversary celebrations.

I paired it with a pair of handmade blue feathers crystal earrings and a leather tassel belt.

It took me a good 90 minutes to get ready.

That evening, he brought me to the iconic Bangkok rooftop restaurant Sirocco located at the 63rd floor of Lebua Hotel, the world’s highest alfresco restaurant. The sense of happiness begins with the walk down the artistically lit staircase, with the city below and the soothing strains of the jazz band resonating through the warm breeze.

We ordered the chef’s tasting menu with wine pairings, which means each dish would come with a glass of pairing wines. I have never tasted so many different wines over one meal in my whole life. And amazingly, I was still able to walk straight to the Sky Bar for another glass of champagne after the dinner *Bravo*

Overlooking the city lights of Bangkok, it was indeed an incomparably romantic repast.

We have been together for 13 years. And as our marriage matured, celebrating anniversary really gives us a chance to look back over the intervening years and see how far we have come, what we have achieved (or not), and how we have changed and grown.

It helps us to cherish and reminds us to love.

Hope you enjoy today’s story of the little red dress. Thank you so much for reading and allow me to share my fashion coordinates and daily musings here. Wishing you a great week ahead!

Practice Tough Love

6 Feb

Hello Everyone! How are you?

red-dress-girl-6

I have just got back from my long Chinese New Year holiday feeling all rejuvenated and ready for all the goals and challenges lined ahead. Can’t believe we are in February of 2017 already! For the past one week, I really got the chance to unwind and did some serious thinking about my life. Been reading a lot of books lately and one of the book that I read is Life Lessons From The Monk Who Sold His Ferrari, written by Robin Sharma.

One chapter that really struck me is about “Practicing Tough Love”

Perseverance in Raising Gifts of Life [Casual Red Dresses]

20 Nov

It is not easy since day one.

As a mother.

millionmars-padini-kids-2

Ultimately, our children are gifts to us and we have only a small window of opportunity to mould their characters.

What makes the job of parenting difficult is accepting the fact that we are imperfect beings trying to raise others imperfectly.

What we need to demonstrate to our children is that we are raising them with humility while acknowledging that we don’t do everything right all the time.

If you are not defensive but ask for their cooperation in doing what is right, even adolescents will appreciate it.

From the book Why Your Children Love You by Eliza Lian-Ding.

A lot of times, we are just trying our best to be good mothers. To be honest, most of the time we really have no idea what to do… When you see your children fighting with each other for a toy, what do you do? When your child refuse to take a nap or brush her teeth, what do you do? When your child screams at you at a crowded public place, what do you do? No matter how many parenting books you read or how many parenting seminars you have attended, you can never be well prepared when the child arrives. For every child is different and so as every parent.

Life just changed.

And so as you.

I truly cherish every moment I got to spend with these two little girls. They have (in a way) made me a better person in general. I  have learned to be (and not just act as) a mother and my life priorities are all different now since they came into our lives.

Now as the girls grow, we are having more fun while playing dress up. Their father buys them a lot of clothes in pairs, so I have decided to UP our dressing game a little bit by wearing the matching outfits as we go out 🙂

My dress has been blogged about HERE when I was in Sydney earlier this year. Instead of its original braided belt, I pair it with a tassel belt this time.

Most of the time, they were having fun together. But getting them to pose properly for a picture is still a real struggle.

Like what was written in the book “What makes the job of parenting difficult is accepting the fact that we are imperfect beings trying to raise others imperfectly.” Many times we experience failures, we are clueless and we have our own weaknesses. To make parenting simpler, maybe what we need to do is to tell ourselves and our children that Mummy is not always right, mummy could be wrong too. When we started accept ourselves and acknowledge our own weaknesses, we will be more able to rectify and make the necessary change to be a better version of ourselves.

Red Passion [Backless Dress X Black Tassel]

1 Mar

Passion is red.

It always is…Millionmars Red Dress St Mary 13

When I think of passion, I always associate it with red. It is so loud and bright, as if there’s a fire burning from within. This backless dress is a love at first sight. It’s a combo of chili red bare back + lace.

To me, it truly signifies Passion and everything in life that’s worth doing.

The diamond cuts at the waist and all the pearls and rhinestones embellishment added so much characteristic to the dress. Millionmars Red Dress St Mary 9

The length of the dress is perfect to show off the beautiful shoes and made walking and dancing easier! (As you don’t have to worry about stepping on your dress.)Millionmars Red Dress St Mary 8

I wore this special dress for Valentine’s Day celebration with my dearest. He so kindly offered to take these pictures for me in front of St. Mary’s Cathedral, Sydney.
